Here are a few ways to enjoy Gin.
Christmas means stress, frantic shopping, indulgence and general craziness. All of which, apart from the indulgence part, can be super stressful. There is one foolproof way to ease all the festive season madness and that’s with gin!
That’s why I wanted to share a few Christmas themed ways to enjoy gin! Easy, simple but warm and cosy, something that will be perfect for Saturdays curled up on the front of a film with your partner and kids, Sundays with the family before a big roast (or Xmas dinner) or indeed a cheeky mid-week tipple to warm the cockles.
The Ultimate G & T – Original
Take a tall glass and pack it full of ice. Take a measure of your favourite gin.
Garnish wise, this depends on the gin and your preference, I recommend a slice of lemon with a gin like Gordon’s or a slice of cucumber with a gin like Hendricks.
Then top this off with a tonic of choice. If you want to elevate the drink, take a lighter to a slice of lemon peel, this releases the oils of the lemon.
Mulled Apple & Gin
– Sugar syrup
– Apple Juice
This recipe is super delicious and instantly brings a blush to your cheeks and a smile to your face! Take some fresh apple juice for the supermarket and add to a pan, a mug per person. Depending on how sweet the apple juice is, add some sugar syrup to taste. Then add in a measure of gin per person. Then bring to a simmer. Once cooked through for no longer than 10 mins, serve in a cup and saucer and garnish with a slice of apple.
A Hot Lemon, Thyme and Honey Soother
– Lemon Juice and peel
Place a measure of gin per person in a pan, add in a tablespoon of honey per measure of gin, add in a sprig of Thyme, a few slices of lemon peel and juice and a cup of water per serving of gin. Then let the liquid simmer together until nice a warm. Strain the mixture to catch any stray lemon seeds and serve in a cup and saucer, along with a little a garnish to fresh lemon peel and a sprig of Thyme.
Perfect Winter Warmer – Spiced Cider & Gin
– Sugar Syrup
This is a little American meets Britain autumn (or fall) collaboration. Place a cup of cider per person in a pan. Pour in a measure of gin per person. Add in a couple of cinnamon sticks, a couple of cloves, a couple of tablespoons of sugar syrup and a cup of water. Let this all come to simmer. Serve in a tumbler and garnish with a cinnamon stick, sit yourself down, sit back and relax.
